Application for FOREA Research Grants
Foundation for Orthoptic Research and Education in America (FOREA)
All applicants for FOREA research grants must be currently certified as an orthoptist by the American Orthoptic Council or the Canadian Orthoptic Council. Validation of current certification must accompany all applications for research grants.
Research grants will be awarded based on merit of the planned project and availability of funds. All research must be original with the applicant as principal investigator. Documentation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval must accompany all applications. For sites without an IRB, the applicant must submit an affidavit stating that the study conforms to the Declaration of Helsinki.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee with the identity of the applicant withheld. When grants are awarded, funds will be released upon completion of the project. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis when grants are awarded for equipment. For all other grants, a manuscript for publication or a summary of findings with a brief discussion of the research outcome must be submitted to the chairman of the Research grant committee prior to release of funds. Proof of investigator expenses (receipts) might be requested by the committee chair and should be submitted prior to release of funds when requested.

Equipment Grants: Funding for equipment will only be considered when the equipment is an item that would not typically be part of a clinical setting and is being purchased specifically for investigational purposes.
Any oral, poster, electronic or published presentation of all or part of the research must acknowledge FOREA’s support.
